LANCASTER, PA. (March 14, 2018) — Health eTools for Schools, an electronic health record system for school nurses to manage student health, announced today that Catherine P. Hanson has been appointed CEO of the company.

The company also announced that it has received funding from outside investors and will introduce version 2.0 of the software later this year. The new version will feature an enhanced look and include the addition of a parent/guardian portal.

Hanson is a nationally recognized expert on patient safety and the needs of special needs students. A former healthcare administrator and the mother of a son with special needs, she has advocated tirelessly for patients, students with special needs, and families dealing with mental illness.

“I am delighted to assume leadership of a company whose mission is to help school nurses keep our nation’s students as healthy as possible,” Hanson said. “Version 2.0 of our flagship software platform will feature elements that will help school nurses, teachers and parents collaborate more effectively.

“I know first-hand how critical the partnership between schools and parents is in education,” she continued. “The enhancements we are making to Health eTools will help school nurses better serve all of their students.”

Hanson began her career in medical research administration at the University of Michigan, where she managed several grant proposals and clinical trials. Since 2012, she has served as an adviser to several patient-centered and mental illness initiatives, including serving as Ambassador to the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) and as a teacher for the National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI) Family to Family Program.
